Nestle moves to rename Red Skins and Chicos lollies

A new version of a cult Aussie product has been spotted on supermarket shelves, sparking excitement among fans.

Nestlé has confirmed to news.com.au a new variation of Milo is launching – and it has already been spotted in some stores.

Milo Pro Powder still has the same taste as the original chocolate malt drink but features 15g of protein per glass when served with milk.

A Milo Protein Snack Bars, which contains 6g of protein, will also be available in all supermarkets from late May.

“Milo has been an Aussie favourite for generations, and we want people to be able to continue to enjoy it in a way that suits their lifestyle,” Rebecca Dobbins, the brand’s general manager of dairy, told news.com.au.

“Protein can play an important role for many people, including teenagers and active Aussies who have additional nutrition requirements.

“Both Milo Pro, when made with milk, and Milo Protein Snack Bars not only provide additional nutritional benefits but consumers will enjoy the Milo choc malt taste and crunch of original Milo, that Aussies know and love.”

There are also protein bars.

Food blogger @nectoriouspapi1 shared a video of the new product after spotting it in Coles, prompting many to respond online.

“I’m about to lose a lot of money,” one person commented:

“Take my money and run,” another social media user replied.

One added: “Yum can’t wait to try the bars!”

Some on social media were quick to compare it to a product Nestlé launched back in March 2020.

“So it’s kinda like the old Milo Xtra,” one social media user said.

Milo Xtra was also a variation of the original drink. When made with milk, a glass contained 12g of protein and was designed as a post workout recovery drink.

Milo Pro Powder, which is a 700 gram packet with a $15.50 price tag, will be available in Woolworths, Coles and independent grocers from late May.

Meanwhile the Milo Protein Snack Bars, which features six bars for $8, will only be in Coles and independent grocers from mid-June.
