A popular item has been ditched from the shelves, with some Aussies declaring the move has “ruined” any upcoming festive season.

Arnott’s has a large line up of gluten free biscuits. This includes gluten free versions of TimTams, Barbecue Shapes and Scotch Finger biscuits.

But, popular TikTok user Christopher Tsalikis, who goes by @melbourne_coeliac on the social media platforms, revealed that the gluten free Choc Ripple has been ditched.

“The rumours are true,” he told news.com.au after reaching out to Arnott’s, who confirmed the news.

“Pretty much everyone is saying they have ruined Christmas as there will be no more Chocolate Ripple cake.”

The item, which was 150 grams, retailed for $5.

Ranita Cowled, Arnott’s Treating Business Director, told news.com.au: “As we continued to expand our Gluten Free range to offer more variety with exciting new products such as Arnott’s Tim Tam Gluten Free, Barbecue Shapes Gluten Free and Jatz Gluten Free, we’ve found that sales of some of our original gluten free range have slowed.

“As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue Arnott’s Choc Ripple Gluten Free as a permanent line. We remain committed to offering a variety of delicious and innovative Gluten Free options for the whole family to enjoy and look forward to sharing what’s next.”

Social media users had a lot to say about the news.

“I’m so sick of having nice gluten free biscuits being cancelled. I had a perfect cheesecake recipe that I used the Woolies choc crème biscuits with that now I can’t make because they disappeared about eight months ago,” one social media user said.

Another added: “My favourite cake to make is chocolate ripple.”

“WTF. Arnott’s so disappointed,” one said.

One said: “Please don’t do this! They’re the only way I can make a delicious and simple dessert!”

“Please no – your GF chocolate ripple biscuits are a life saver in our household. I hope you rethink your decision,” another social media user added.

“We as coeliacs are so limited for choice please don’t take these away,” another added.

Another added: “This is truly devastating to my preschooler coeliac kiddo; chockie ripples are her fave. All of the other GF bickies taste like you’re eating plaster/cement or playdough. She won’t touch them.”

“Christmas won’t be the same. Once again our children miss out on what has become a favourite,” one said.

Another added: “Saddest news ever.”
