Star’s outfit proves revealing trend is making a comeback

A famous star has been spotted heading out for ice cream but her outfit has left some people saying “what?”.

Addison Rae has been seen wearing very short shorts, and the thigh-baring trend might be making a comeback.

Shorts are never out of style, but shorts that are so short they are basically hotpants have their cultural moments, and Rae, 23, is ready to make them a thing again.

Rae is best known for amassing millions of followers on TikTok. She leveraged that fame and starred in a critically panned romantic comedy on Netflix. She is now focusing on a breathy pop singer career.

It is the kind of career arc that could only be possible in 2024. For a while there, Rae was verging on cringe territory, but now she’s becoming a certified pop star and has been serving looks left, right, and centre.

This brings us to her getting ice cream in tiny black shorts, six-inch heels, a Lady Gaga T-shirt, and sunglasses.

The 23-year-old’s black shorts are so small that they resemble Bond’s boy-leg briefs. They offer more coverage than your average pair of undies …. But not much more coverage.

The shorts wouldn’t be noticeable if she was wearing them to the gym, but she’s really made them pop by pairing the hotpants with heels and going on an ice cream trip.

The look is jarring because it just isn’t something you see every day. Unless you’re very invested in watching the music video of Jessica Simpson’s med-2000s revival of the Nancy Sinatra song, These Boots Are Made For Walking.

Being a trendsetter isn’t exactly easy work, and online there has been some criticism, and plain confusion, over her outfit.

“What is that fit?” One asked.

“She is trying so hard to be iconic,” another complained.

“So are we just not wearing pants in public now? Classy,” one wrote.

“Horrible outfit,” another declared.

“What am I looking at?” Someone asked.

It wasn’t all complaints; someone said the outfit proves that Rae never stops “winning”, and another wrote that she “ate” with her outfit.

These are high compliments in the Gen Z slang universe.

Besides wearing tiny shorts, the 23-year-old is focusing on promoting her major label debut single, Diet Pepsi, which is as sweet as its title.

She posted on Instagram that she was “overwhelmed with gratitude” because she couldn’t believe how many people loved the song.

“Thank you everyone who made this wild vision come to life. Thank you to my best friends. Thank you to my team. And thank you to all of you for being open to receiving this special song and video. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a ride,” she wrote.

The singer also went the extra mile. In a separate Instagram post, she admitted that “I really do like Pepsi.”

To promote the single, she posted a photo of herself wearing a whipped cream bikini.
