‘A disgrace’: 15yo girl in tears after birthday stunt
A teenage boy has viciously smashed a birthday cake into a 15-year-old girl's face during her party, leaving her in tears and sparking outrage online.
A teenage girl was left distraught after a partygoer smashed her birthday cake in her face in front of shocked guests.
In a viral post shared on social media, a young girl is seen standing at the cake table at her 15th birthday celebration.
According to commenters, it was her “quinceañera,” a celebration for a girl’s 15th birthday in Hispanic cultures that marks her transition from childhood to young womanhood.
After she blew out her candles, a teenage boy, who appears to be around her age or slightly older, viciously shoves the huge cake into her face, pinning her against the wall with it as he smears it all over her.
The girl immediately bursts into tears, visibly distressed as she processes what just happened.
Just moments later, the teen is seen dancing smugly while holding a bottle of what appears to be alcohol, as onlookers watched on in disbelief.
Psychologist Carly Dober told news.com.au that when “both parties are excited and in on this joke, [cake smashing] can be fun and lighthearted”.
However, when this occurs against one person’s wishes, as it appears in this video, it can be “disrespectful, demeaning, it can ruin the day and the memory for the person who doesn’t wish for this to happen, and they can be perceived as being the butt of the joke and not in on it”.
And it can take a real psychological toll.
“In the immediate moment, the recipient may feel embarrassed, shocked, panicked and stressed that their appearance has been ruined for the remainder of the event, and they might be confused as to why that person did this to them on their special day,” Ms Dober added.
Social media commenters swiftly condemned the boy’s behaviour.
“What a complete a**hole,” said one, as another wrote: “It kind of looked painful, too”.
“What an animal,” a third wrote.
“This is horrible,” a fourth chimed in.
Others questioned why no one else stepped in.
“Shame on everyone who didn’t help her or correct him,” one user pointed out.
It comes amid a broader “cake smashing” trend at weddings and other special events.
One story went viral recently after a woman decided to divorce her husband just a day after they tied the knot.
She told him her ‘one rule’ was not to smash cake in her face, and yet he still did it.
Another incident involved a groom chasing the bride into a corner of their reception venue as she begged him not to smash the cake on her.
He knocked her to the ground, smeared cake on her dress, then walked away, seemingly impressed with his actions.
One TikToker said she even walked out of her own wedding after her husband pulled a similar stunt.
“He smashed a wedding cake on my face and ruined my $1600 bridal makeup. But he actually ended up saving me $50,000 in divorce fees,” she said.
Yet another bride shared on Reddit how she had an uncomfortable history with “cake smashing,” stemming from her mother pushing her face into her birthday cakes while she was growing up.
After telling her partner about this, he still smashed a cake into her face on the big day.
Across all these comment sections, the same sentiment emerges. When it’s nonconsensual, this isn’t just a prank – it’s an extremely troubling trend.
