Molly Appleton is a Digital Editor for The Mercury. She has previously worked at The Advocate and The Examiner newspapers, while getting her start in digital storytelling with Southern Cross Austereo in Launceston.

Judy Augustine is a general news reporter for the Mercury. She has previously worked as a journalist for WIN News in Hobart and assistant producer at Southern Cross News in Launceston.

Sue Bailey is one of Tasmania’s most experienced journalists. She has worked in print, radio, television and as a media adviser. Sue works part-time for the Sunday Tasmanian.

Hobart barrister Greg Barns is a human rights lawyer who has advised state and federal Liberal governments.

Real Estate Editor Jarrad Bevan has worked in beautiful Hobart at the Mercury newspaper for nearly 18 years (but who’s counting!). Lover of million dollar listings, it took Jarrad 12 months to talk himself into spending just $250,000 on his first home because at the time the sum felt like ‘Tattslotto level money’. Jarrad is a father, a husband and a bloke with 150 pairs of sneakers in his spare room.

James is the Sports Editor for the Mercury Newspaper and Sunday Tasmanian, and a reporter for CODE Sports. An award-winning journalist in sport, mental health, human rights, and a former Chief of Staff. James specialises in AFL, motorsport, Sydney-Hobart.
Bridget Clarke is a reporter for the Mercury. She joined the newsroom after completing the NCA Cadet Program, during which time she also worked at the Herald Sun.

Darcy Fitzgerald is the national education reporter for News Corp Australia publications. A former secondary school teacher, he brings classroom experience to stories spanning childcare, schooling, and higher education. Got an education story worth telling? Cas is the deputy editor of the Mercury and Sunday Tasmanian. She has worked across multiple newsrooms in Tasmania and Queensland for almost two decades.

Genevieve is a reporter for the Mercury in Hobart. She has previously worked for the Herald Sun and has a keen interest in uniquely Tasmanian stories.

Rob Inglis is an award-winning reporter for The Mercury. He previously worked for The Examiner and The Advocate as a state political reporter. Born and raised in Hobart, Rob is passionate about telling the stories that matter to Tasmanians.

Elise was born and raised on the North West Coast of Tasmania. She joins the Mercury after a year in NCAs national cadet program where she wrote for The Australian, news.com.au and the Sunday Telegraph and Daily Telegraph. Elise has a masters in international relations and loves writing at the intersection of Tasmanian news and global politics.

David Killick is the Mercury’s political editor. During his 25-year career, he has worked in reporting roles in three Australian states and five countries, as well as Antarctica.

Linda Smith has been telling the stories of Tasmanians for almost two decades. She writes primarily for TasWeekend magazine as well as covering news for the Mercury and Sunday Tasmanian.
Jon Tuxworth is a sports reporter for News Corp and CODE Sports, based in Launceston.

Amber Wilson is an award-winning court and in-depth reporter. She joined the Mercury in 2019 after three years covering Melbourne courts with Australian Associated Press, covering cases including the Bourke Street massacre, the Rebel Wilson defamation saga, the murder of Eurydice Dixon and several terrorism cases. She has more than a decade’s experience in newsrooms in Hobart, Melbourne, Ballarat, Burnie and Glasgow, and in 2021 was named the joint Tasmanian Journalist of the Year for her exposés into historic child sexual abuse in Tasmanian state schools.
