TV star Carrie Bickmore has caused a stir by revealing a new time-saving trick for busy parents.

'I'm terrible at it': Bickmore's next challenge

Carrie Bickmore’s new way to serve spaghetti bolognese on baking paper has sparked a mixed reaction among her fans, with some even calling it “offensive” and “wrong”.

The popular radio and television presenter posted a video to Instagram on Monday, revealing her “new way to do dinner” for her young family.

In the video, Bickmore pours a pot of bolognese sauce onto some freshly cooked pasta, but there’s a twist.

The pile of spaghetti is sitting on top of sheets of baking paper on a dining table, instead of inside bowls.

Then, Bickmore adds grated cheese, before a final image shows the classic Italian dish being tucked into, whilst still on the baking paper.

“I was inspired by a random post on insta and thought I’d be a fun mum too and let the kids just eat in a more relaxed manner,” she wrote.

“They loved it (thought it was so weird) but loved it. And given I put the baking paper underneath, the clean up was easier than washing plates!!!!”

But her “more relaxed manner” to eat dinner has copped some criticism, particularly among Italians.

One of Australia’s biggest comedy acts, Italian trio Sooshi Mango, know for selling out live shows and making viral videos by poking fun at their own culture, weighed in on Bickmore’s video in the comments section.

“The souls of our nonnas just entered our bodies and screeched in deep pain and agony!,” they wrote.

“As an Italian, I find this highly offensive and wrong on so many levels!,” another commented.

But Bickmore’s innovative method was also celebrated, with some people saying it inspired them to try it.

“Love it! Life is so serious, have fun with meat time,” a fan wrote.

“Carrie just invented the funnest way for the kids to have ‘spag bol’ and give us the night off on dishes too,” one mother said.

It comes after Carrie Bickmore this month revealed she’s heading to the South African jungle to do a half marathon.

After conquering the Great Wall of China, Bickmore committed to a half marathon at this year’s The Big Five Marathon through the Entabeni private game reserve in June.
