A young Brisbane woman has been given days to live after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

Carolina Palacios was diagnosed with ovarian cancer just days after she was rushed to the emergency department (ED) on March 31 with a swollen abdomen.

Just two weeks later, Carolina’s sister Yurley Palacios told The Courier-Mail that the 28-year-old had “hours or days” left.

Yurley said Carolina had migrated from Columbia about two years ago.

“She is (now) in palliative care...her last wish is to be in Columbia,” she said.

Carolina celebrated her 28th birthday on April 7 but was recently told the 22cm mass was “incurable”.

Yurley has since launched a GoFundMe for her sister to be repatriated to Columbia.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the story of our beloved Carolina Torres, a vibrant, kind, and generous soul who was recently diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of cancer,” Yurley wrote.

“Doctors have informed us that there is no effective medical treatment available.

“The only option would be chemotherapy, but the chances of it making a difference are incredibly low, and it would only cause her significant pain and suffering.”

“Carolina is currently in a very delicate state, with only a few hours or days left - an uncertain and heartbreaking time for all of us.

“Throughout this difficult journey, she has expressed one final wish: to return to her homeland, Girón, Santander (Colombia), and rest near her loved ones.”

Yurley said Carolina was the youngest of four siblings.
