SHE’S one of Australia’s most popular media personalties but that doesn’t mean Emma Freedman is immune to online trolls.

The Hit 30 radio host and Channel Nine star has revealed to news.com.au what haters most love to hate about her.

“For me it’s probably my voice,” laughed the 27-year-old.

“Some people can’t hack my voice. They find it annoying or they find it grating but that’s the voice I’ve been given, I can’t change it. I think, ‘Well that’s your opinion and if you want to spend your time behind a keyboard each day bashing people, well good for you’.”

Freedman says online criticism is “a very sad part of this industry” but added that she doesn’t spend enough time on social media to be affected by it.

“I find that when you’re on social media too much, you just tend to be, not a better version of yourself, you become a very critical version of yourself,” she said.

“Nothing’s gotten me down too much. For the most part I’ve come off alright.”

Freedman has drawn on her real-life experience with bullies for inspiration in her debut novel Turning Pointes which is out now.

The children’s fiction novel tells the coming-of-age story of a 13-year-old girl called April as she deals with a new school, mean girls, stage mothers and big dreams.

“It’s about change and growing up,” Freedman said of the novel that she wrote in seven months.

“I’d love to write a sequel too,” she added, “I’ve left it open for that”.

And Freedman’s got a few other ideas up her sleeve too.

“There’s not been a book written about my dad (horse trainer Lee Freedman) yet ... I wouldn’t be averse to helping out with that.”

You can hear Emma Freedman on The Hit 30 each weeknight from 7-10pm, you can watch her each Sunday on Channel Nine’s Wide World of Sports and you can now buy her debut novel Turning Pointes in all good book stores. Basically, she’s everywhere!
