Timothee Chalamet goes shirtless to 2022 Oscars

Rising star Timothee Chalamet has raised eyebrows for attending the Academy Awards with no shirt on, in what’s been dubbed a first.

There are certain esteemed establishments in which wearing a shirt is an unwritten rule: Airports, church and the Oscars.

US-French actor Timothee Chalamet, 26, has rewritten a century-old Oscars style code by hitting today’s 94th annual Academy Awards red carpet in a cropped blazer with nothing underneath.

Chalamet, who stars in two of the films up for Best Picture – Don’t Look Up and Dune – rocked the sparkling black blazer with matching pants and boots, as he styled his look with Cartier jewels.

Hosted by Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall, the Oscars will honour the best in film over the past year, with 10 nominees battling it out for the big gong – Best Picture – including Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog and West Side Story.

In the Best Actress category, Australian actress Nicole Kidman is nominated for Being the Ricardos, and is up against frontrunner Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Kristen Stewart (Spencer), Penelope Cruz (Parallel Mothers) and Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter).

As for Best Actor, Will Smith is primed to take out the award for King Richard, with Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick … Boom!) and Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth) also in the running.
