Viewers gobsmacked over ‘tacky’ Yummy Mummies baby shower

JUST when you thought new Channel Seven show Yummy Mummies couldn’t get any more ‘cashed-up bogan’ — a literal cash bouquet was delivered as a present.

During Tuesday night’s episode, viewers were invited to witness the most over-the-top baby shower in living memory, with Adelaide-based Maria DiGeronimo splurging on a Donatella Versace-inspired event.

One more time, slowly: that’s a Donatella Versace-inspired baby shower.

After the party, the pregnant socialite’s partner Carlos surprised her with a bundle of presents worth well over $15,000 and a $7000 bouquet of $100 notes — because he knows she “doesn’t like flowers”.

Cash had certainly been the theme of the day, with the other pregnant Yummy Mummy guests left speechless over the “cash only” gift policy.

Maria explained that it was because she already “has everything” — while her own mother Margharita attempted to justify it by explaining: “You know when people go on a holiday and collect stamps? Well, Maria collects money.”

During the episode, the pair also criticised another mother in a bar for breastfeeding publicly, describing it as “not classy” and “illegal”.

The flashy shower and breastfeeding remarks provoked a strong response from viewers, who took to Twitter to slam the “disgraceful” women.
