RONNIE and Georgia won kids bedroom week on The Block, scoring the first 10 of this year’s series.
It is the second week in a row that the West Australian couple have been victorious. As well as winning $10,000 they were able to steal a point from one of the other teams for next week’s room reveal.
Ronnie and Georgia delivered a room — clearly aimed at a young girl — that featured a rose gold bed and a pink and grew palette, a striking ceiling light, and wallpaper on the ceiling.
Judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer were delighted with the result. Whitaker scored the room a perfect 10 with Blaze and Palmer 9.5 each for a total of 29 out of 30.
“How beautiful is this?” Whitaker said when he entered the room. “They’re acknowledging this (childhood) is a special time, a magical time, and the room has to reflect that.”
Blaze added: “This is a bedroom memories are made of.”
Jason and Sarah, who have been plagued by budget problems, got 27 out of 30 for a room that featured zebra wallpaper and a small desk area.
The judges thought it was hard to interpret exactly what age group the room was aimed at but that was a good thing.
“It is sophisticated and has a sense of play and whimsy but it is not childish,” Palmer said.
Sticks and Wombat came third with 25.5 out of 30 for their room which featured a climbing wall and a double decker bunk bed.
The pair was docked points because their wallpaper was badly put on.
Josh and Elyse were well back on 23 points for their room which had a beach-style vibe. The judges liked the fact that it felt like a mini-apartment but said the styling was dull and they were highly critical of the young couple’s decision to strip the room of any heritage elements.
Clint and Hannah, the only couple on the show with no previous renovating experience, came last with 22 points.
The judges liked the Queenslanders’ styling but said the sliding door to a courtyard raised security issues and the small size of the room — due to a planning switch — was a negative.
