SPENDING six weeks on an island eating nothing but coconuts and rice is about as extreme a diet as you can get — and it’s had a drastic effect on the contestants on Australian Survivor.

AS DIETS go, a stint as a contestant on Australian Survivor is about as extreme as it gets.
For up to 55 days, hopefuls vying to win the $500,000 prize money live out their days on a remote Samoan beach, competing in regular extreme physical challenges while existing on a diet largely made up of rice and coconut juice.
Sure, they get the occasional reward if they win a challenge — a KFC feast here, a pizza party there — but it’s still an extremely restricted diet compared to life back in Australia.
Last year’s runner-up Lee Carseldine underwent perhaps the most dramatic transformation of his season, shedding an incredible 17kg from his athletic frame during the two months of filming.
