HOUSE Rules contestant and former NRL player David Clarson has revealed how he was told he had a “one per cent” chance of having children after a gruesome football injury.
The reality TV star’s NRL career ended when while playing for Sydney City another player’s football boots “tore” into his private parts.
“I had my testicles ripped open when I was playing,” Clarson told New Idea this week.
After an operation and recovery time, Clarson said he was “too old” to return to playing and moved from Sydney to Perth.
There he met now wife Chiara Clarson and told her he had no chance of having children.
“We were given a one per cent chance of falling pregnant,” Chiara said.
But to the couple’s surprise, Chiara and David were able to have three children — eight-year-old Seth, six-year-old Taya and three-year-old Ellie Mae.
Billed as one of House Rules’ most colourful couples ever, David revealed things went awry if he didn’t listen to his wife.
“I would describe myself as occasionally abrupt, but straight to the point and honest,” Chiara explained in a preview ahead of Monday night’s premiere.
“We were told by a counsellor that we are explosive at times. We fight hard, love big.”
House Rules premieres tonight on Channel 7 at 7.30pm
