FBoy Island Australia reveals Season 2 leading ladies alongside raunchy trailer

A former Bachelor star says she’s eager to right the wrongs of that show as she embarks on her second chance at televised romance.

FBoy Island Australia returns for Season 2

Turn on your dating BS detectors because the reality TV show that flipped the script on dating programs is back for Season 2.

Hosted by Abbie Chatfield, FBoy Island Australia won praise from critics and the industry alike, with the BINGE Original Series even scoring a Best Reality Program nomination at the 2024 AACTA Awards.

Now the controversial show is set to return to screens on August 5 with BINGE today revealing the identities of the three new ladies calling the shots - among them, a former Bachelor star - along with a spicy new trailer.

How the F-Boy Island Australia girls hope to break the cycle of FBoys

Season 2 follows Krystal Thomas, Nicole Mitrov and Ally Woodfall as they navigate the dating pool of 21 men to determine who the “Nice Guys” are from the self-proclaimed “FBoys”, who are only there to play the game and take home the $50,000 cash prize.

Not new to the reality game, however, is London-born, Queensland-based Krystal who was a standout contestant last year on The Bachelors Australia and this year is one of FBoy Island’s leading ladies. She didn’t hold back when asked about her first attempt at finding love on TV.

“Honestly, I just think on The Bachelor the concept is the women are chasing the man. And I think that’s not something that really aligns well with me. I’m not really the chaser,” the 28-year-old tells news.com.au of her time on the show, which featured three bachelors in one season and struggled in the ratings.

“So for me, this environment is like a sisterhood and we’re not competing against each other. The Bachelor was a failure, but now it’s much different because I love the concept of this show: female empowerment. We are in control. It’s about time we put these FBoys in their place, and I’m just at a point in my life where I am ready to meet someone and actually find my match.”

As per the rules of the show, Krystal will get to debrief with the other leading ladies Ally and Nicole, who says it’s like “we’re playing detective. We’ve got each other’s back, and we’re trying to all end up with a Nice Guy.”

FBoy Island Season 2 also sees Nicole Mitrov in the top seat.

“I’ve kind of had the scale of FBoys, so the ones that give you minimal attention, ghosting and that toxic behaviour. But then I’ve had the guy that will kind of give you all the dates and make it seem like you are their girlfriend without the title, without the actual commitments. So it’s like it’s been such an array,” says Nicole, a 26-year-old model from Melbourne.

“I got to a point as well of just being tired of it because my intentions are true and I want a relationship, but I keep meeting guys that are emotionally unavailable.”

Nicole says that being able to talk through her feelings with the other girls has been a godsend.

“Our different red flags or our different behaviours that we see, which the other person might not see as big as the problem, once we talk it out, we’re like, ‘It makes sense,’” she says.

“That’s really helpful when you’re trying to look for a partner because you don’t have the rose-coloured glasses and it’s not because there are shirts off or that they’re hot and their abs are great. It’s like, ‘OK, is this person actually good for me?’”

Queenslander Ally knows all too well what having rose-coloured glasses can do to someone’s judgement when it comes to dating.

“It’s the rose-coloured glasses for me that see the good things in the FBoys. So I unfortunately, no matter how red the flag is, I like to see if we can get it redder,” says the 27-year-old.

“I just go for the boys, not the men. So lacking everything like maturity, life skills, things like that. But I think that, I guess it’s my weakness a little bit is I think I have a really big heart and I try and make things work with people no matter what and see the good things.”

So far, there is no game plan for the ladies. They have embraced the experience with open minds and hearts, and have even put aside their dating “types” in an attempt to find love.

Ally admits she typically goes for the wrong men.

“I typically go for the loudest in the room, the one that possesses the most confidence. And obviously that is FBoy 101,” says Nicole. “So for me it was going for the quieter ones or going for the guys who aren’t necessarily my type. I think when you’ve exhausted your options in your hometown, it’s like, well clearly something’s not working.”

“Here’s an opportunity with 21 guys of different personalities, different looks. So why not give it the best shot?”

Krystal says that it’s the “mids” they are all excited about – “mid” is a slang term used to describe someone that is pretty average.

“It is the year of the mids. It’s their time to shine. Bless them. It’s the guys that don’t ever get a chance. I think I’m sick of going for the hot, hot, hot guys. They waste our time,” she says.

“And the mids are getting missed. They’ve got amazing personalities, charisma. They can make you laugh and they’re actual genuine guys, but they just get looked over. But this is their time.”
