Fans fume over major Big Brother rule break
One Big Brother contestant just did something that fans say should see him disqualified from the show altogether.
Some of Big Brother’s strict rules appear a little more relaxed on this season of the reality show.
In footage posted to the show’s Instagram account, housemate Bruce was shown relaxing in the sun with fellow contestant Coco in the backyard of the Big Brother house.
The house is situated within Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast, and park attendees who ride one attraction in particular will get a birds eye view into the house’s backyard.
As the ‘Tail Spin’ ride swung overhead, Bruce thought he could hear some familiar voices calling his name – voices of his family members.
“Oh, it’s Jonah! That’s my brother!” he exclaimed.
“Love you Bruce!” a voice called back.
“Oh, it’s my mum! Love you!” he yelled out to them.

It was a sweet moment – but as fans of the franchise were keen to point out in the comments section of the post, it’s also a clear violation of the rules of the show, which forbid contestants from having any contact with the outside world (aside from occasional live crosses with host Mel Tracina).
“I miss when this would’ve had Big Brother seething at them in the diary room …” one longtime Big Brother fan commented.
“If this happened in an old season I feel like big brother would disqualify the contestant for speaking back,” another agreed.
“One of the rules is that housemates are not allowed to communicate with the outside world?” another asked.
One fan called the stunt “absolute f**kery,” asking: “Wasn’t the point of Big Brother was that they were isolated from the outside world?”

It’s not the first time this season contestants have had some exposure to the outside world: Single mum Coco had a phone call with her children earlier in the season, and in a surprise twist that proved controversial with viewers, the eviction of contestant Mia was left in the hands of one fan of the show, who relayed her decision in a phone call to housemate Ed.
In a chat with news.com.au after her eviction this week, model Holly opened up about her recent rule break and suggested Big Brother isn’t quite the stickler for rules he’s been in seasons past.
Holly revealed live on stage with host Mel Tracina after her eviction that she’d broken another of Big Brother’s golden rules and had secretly penned a farewell note to Colin after their house romance.
The show’s rules expressly forbid housemates writing anything down, especially penning secret notes to each other.
But speaking to news.com.au, Holly said she faced no consequences for her major rule break and said: “To be honest, I think Big Brother was proud of me.”
Meanwhile, this season of Big Brother is almost over, with just two episodes left, on Sunday and then next Monday’s finale where the winner of the season will be revealed.
