Kylie Minogue was on the receiving end of awkward on-air mishap when she stopped by for a guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The singer was on the US talk show on Tuesday to promote her newly released album Tension II when host Kelly Clarkson decided to mark the occasion with some wine – of course, from the Aussie’s own label, Kylie Minogue Wines.
“Before you go, besides music, is it true you started a wine company? Because I thought maybe we should test it out,” Clarkson said as she summoned for the wine to be brought on-set.
A producer named Sal then walked into view holding a tray with a wine bottle and three filled glasses of wine. Minogue was touched by the gesture only for Sal to accidentally pour a glass of wine on her as he tripped on the rug.
“It’s all right,” the Padam Padam singer told the embarrassed producer, as Clarkson urged them all to “Hug it out, hug it out.”
“Have you been on the wine? What’s going on?” Minogue playfully asked while in their huddle, as Sal joked, “I’ve been drinking.”
“Girl, I don’t need a glass,” Clarkson said as she complimented Minogue on her wine, which has sold 15 million bottles globally, so roughly 90 million glasses, one of which was just poured on her.
The former Neighbours star explained that she “started my wine company four years ago. We have Prosecco. We have non-alcoholic wine, which is amazing. Plenty for you to enjoy … Just avoid the rugs!”
“Sal, you’re the best. I know we only just met but …” she added as Clarkson wondered, “Maybe he’s telling you you should have a perfume line as well and it should smell like your rosé?”
“Guess what? I’ve got that too,” Minogue replied.
Her guest appearance comes four months before Minogue heads back home to Australia to start her Tension world tour.
The tour marks the first time Minogue has toured her home country since March 2019, and she will perform in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, where one of her dates at Qudos Bank Arena is on the same night as the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade and party.
“You have no idea how hard it has been to keep all the planning and preparation from you. But it’s time and I. CAN’T. WAIT!” she tweeted last month when she announced the tour.
Minogue will then bring her tour to Canada and US, kicking of in Toronto on March 29 before hitting Montreal, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Austin, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Denver and concluding in Los Angeles on May 2.
