Kim Kardashian’s ‘Actors on Actors’ interview absolutely roasted

Kim Kardashian, acting guru? The reality star shared her acting insights in a new interview that’s seriously painful to watch.

Why is Kim Kardashian so famous?

Variety’s Actors on Actors is a popular, long-running series that sees two acting heavyweights sit down for an in-depth chat about how they approach their craft.

Blanchett and McKellen. Rampling and Rossellini. Sevigny and … Kardashian?
Eyebrows were raised last week when it was announced the latest entry into the web series would pair indie film darling Chloe Sevigny with reality star Kim Kardashian.

An unlikely duo: Sevigny has been a working actor for almost 30 years, starring in acclaimed films like Kids, Boys Don’t Cry and Dogville, while Kardashian’s much shorter IMDB page is made up of fare like Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.

But they do have one thing in common: They’ve both starred in recent Ryan Murphy projects, Sevigny in Feud: Capote vs. the Swans and Kardashian in American Horror Story: Delicate.

Now the full interview’s here, and the clips are hard to watch. It’s fair to say Kardashian seems a little … out of her depth.

In one already-viral moment from the discussion, Kardashian shares the best advice her acting coach gave her. “Never bring your phone on set.”

“Interesting,” Sevigny says, not all that convincingly.

Kardashian admits she struggled with the rule, which seems less “acting tip” and more “common courtesy.”

“I was like – can it be in the trailer? Like, where does the set start? Like, the actual set?” she reveals.

“This is so SNL its unreal...... What is going through Chloe’s mind,” one person on social media wrote of that pearl of acting wisdom.

In another cringe-worthy moment, the pair each reel off some of their all-time cinema favourites.

SEVIGNY: “In high school, I got into the more independent scene. I was also just drawn to certain actresses, like Mia Farrow and Anna Magnani, the great Italian actress. And Gena Rowlands. I was really drawn to these women who were just powerhouses, Elizabeth Taylor and … the list goes on and on. Jean Harlow was my favourite. I left white flowers at her grave here in Los Angeles.”

KARDASHIAN: “I love nostalgic movies. I always loved during the holidays when the big movies come out and seeing them with everyone. But I’m just a Clueless, Notebook kind of girl.”

Kardashian also reveals she recently held an “emergency family meeting” when she discovered her mother Kris Jenner had never seen the 1989 Shelley Long film Troop Beverly Hills, a critically mauled comedy that tells the story of a Beverly Hills housewife who becomes the leader of a group of girl scouts.

The family then watched it together, and it appears the film, which has a 14 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, had a deep and profound effect on the Kardashian clan.

“We watched it, and [Kris] was crying over the fashion and all these stores that don’t exist anymore. And we were like, ‘Oh, we can never drive down in a Rolls-Royce in Beverly Hills these days. All the shopping bags out? You’d get robbed.’ It was such a different time.”

“Vapid to the core,” was one person’s brutal response to that bon mot when it was posted on social media.

“So deep and insightful. I’m sure the next generation of actors are INSPIRED!!!!!” wrote another person.

“Chloe Sevigny you are stronger than me….” wrote another.

Sevigny’s 2025 Emmy’s campaign starts here: She’s a shoo-in for Best Actress in a Dramatic Role for managing to keep a straight face through this ordeal.
