A new drama dawns on Aussie TV, with a stellar cast led by Leah Purcell, Sara Wiseman and a Game of Thrones favourite.

New Aussie mystery series High Country is now mere weeks away from premiering.

This morning, BINGEannounced the 8-part series will premiere with a special double episode on March 19. The streamer also dropped the first trailer and first-look images of the crime thriller, which was filmed in regional Victoria.

In the trailer, lead star and executive producer Leah Purcell assumes the role of Detective Andrea “Andie” Whitford, who is transferred to the Victorian High Country to solve a baffling mystery involving five missing people who have vanished without a trace in the wilderness.

Game of Thrones actor Ian McElhinney plays fellow police officer Sam Dyson, who is just as obsessed with the investigation.

Purcell’s on-screen partner, played by Sara Wiseman is also seen in character as an artist who put her craft to the side to support Andie.

But their relationship begins to strain as Andie takes on the all-consuming, high-stakes investigation, where she soon uncovers a complex web involving murder, deceit and revenge in the small town.

“It’s a crime drama filled with twist and turns, spine-tingling mystery and a harrowing sense of place,” Purcell teased last October at the Foxtel Group’s annual Upfront event in Sydney.

The thrilling drama also stars Mystery Road actor Aaron Pedersen and Offspring fan favourite Linda Cropper.

They will be joined by Wentworth actor Luke McKenzie, The Wrong Girl’s Leah Vandenberg, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power star Geoff Morrell, while newcomers including Pez Warner and Pedrea Jackson also star.

Production on the series began in April last year in the regional Victorian town of Jamieson.

This sleepy town around three hours’ drive from Melbourne CBD is rarely captured on-screen and sets the perfect backdrop for edge-of-your-seat adventure, intrigue and murder.

High Country premieres Tuesday, March 19 on BINGE and Tuesday, March 19 on Showcase at 8.30pm and available On Demand.
