The Dancing With The Stars finale came down to a battle between a soap star and a singer – so who won? WARNING: Spoilers.

The winner of DWTS 2024 has been announced following a nailbiting finale on Monday night that saw five celebrities whittled down to just three stars - Lisa McCune, Samantha Jade and Ant Middleton before the champion was revealed.

The semi-final saw Ben Cousins, Adam Dovile, and Shane Crawford sent home, and it was left to five stars; Lisa McCune, Ant Middleton, James Stewart, Nikki Osborne, and Samantha Jade, to battle it out for the final showdown.

In the end, it was Lisa McCune who was crowned as this year’s champion.

A humbled Lisa said: “I’m so thrilled,” before praising her dancing partner Ian for helping her achieve the title.

This one is so beautiful,” she said of the trophy. “Like he’s going back to the UK. What happens? Do I keep it here? It will keep my Logies company.”

For the first set of performances, each pairing was tasked with doing a freestyle routine for the judges.

After all the dances had taken place, Lisa and Ian landed themselves at the top of the leaderboard with a perfect score of 40.

Samantha and Gustavo and Ant an Alex rounded out the top three with scores of 38 and 34 respectively.

Nikki an Aric scored 31 while James an Jorja were awarded 30 which left both duos at the bottom of the leaderboard.

After the audience votes were added to the scores things didn’t change, and the three couples that moved to the final were Lisa and Ian, Samantha and Gustavo and Ant and Alex.

“This has been the best journey,” said James after learning of his fate. “I was very lucky to have my daughter at all the shows, and I just want to say if daddy can do this, then she can do it too!”

With one last chance to try and impress the judges, each couple were tasked with choosing a dance from the season that the felt they had excelled at to perform again.

First up it was Samantha an Gustavo, who opted to take on the foxtrot.

“There's just something so special about you when you move,” gushed judge Sharna Burgess before the panel awarded the duo a final score of 38.

Next to strut onto the dancefloor were Ant and Alex who chose to perform a contemporary routine.

“You’ve proved you have a lot to offer, you’re the best lifter. But are you the best dancer? You have made huge steps with this competition, I think you’ve been fantastic, you’ve amazed me,” said judge Helen Richey before the panel award the couple a final score of 36.

Last to hit the dancefloor were Lisa and Ian who decided to perform the Viennese waltz.

After their beautiful performance, the judges said they loved the dance, but weren’t sure if it was as good as the first time they did it for viewers.

“But it was just gorgeous, it was absolutely stunning,” said Craig Revel-Horwood before the panel gave them a final score of 39.

With the dancing coming to an end, it was finally left up to the audience to cast their votes and decide on the winner.

After a tense wait, Ant and Alex placed third, Samantha and Gustavo placed second and Lisa and Ian were announced as the Dancing With The Stars 2024 champions.
