YOUNG Tasmanian troubadour Jed Appleton will launch his new album, The Other Side of Home, in Hobart on Saturday night.

Fresh from a sold-out Melbourne leg of his national tour, Appleton has been playing some of Australia’s most intimate venues.

“The tour has been incredible and the response has been amazingly unexpected,” he said.

The full band performance will showcase not only the new album, but new material that came flooding out during a 22-date UK and European tour with renowned troubadour Stu Larsen.

At only 19 years of age, Appleton has already released two EPs and two albums — all self funded and managed — and has toured extensively.

He has secured supports for Passenger, Matt Corby, Husky, Jordie Lane and many more.

Two singles from the new album have received national airplay on Triple J, Unearthed Digital Rotation and ABC, as well as community stations across the UK and Australia.

Folk and indie artist Joe Mungovan has been playing support around the country.

Mungovan has already shared stages with some of Australia’s most well-known acts including The Preatures, Ian Moss (Cold Chisel), Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors), Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band) and Christine Anu.

Local supports for the Tasmanian shows are The Maddy Jane Band and Jensen.

The Other Side of Home launch will be at Fresh on Charles in Launceston tomorrow and the Republic Bar in Hobart on Saturday.
