Pop superstar spotted in Paris days before Olympics opening ceremony

The line-up for the Olympics Opening Ceremony is being kept top-secret, but it looks like this global superstar will perform.

Lady Gaga describes working on new music as like 'meditation'

Little has been officially revealed about the entertainment line-up for the Paris Olympic Games opening ceremony, despite the event itself being only a few days away.

But one celeb sighting in Paris appears to confirm a big rumour: Lady Gaga will perform as part of the ceremony.

The American pop superstar was spotted leaving her hotel in Paris yesterday, waving to fans as she hopped into a waiting car.

And another photo on social media allegedly gives a hint of what Gaga might have planned for her performance during the opening ceremony, which is set to break from Olympic tradition and take place on stages floating on the Seine river.

The behind-the-scenes snap shows a shiny white piano on a floating stage in the river, with fan accounts on social media claiming that Gaga had been spotted rehearsing the classic song La Vie En Rose.

That song choice would make a lot of sense: Not only is it perhaps the most famous French song of all time, Gaga also performed it in her hit movie A Star Is Born.

AFP reports that the musical line-up for the opening ceremony is expected to be a mix of classical, traditional ‘chanson franchise’, as well as rap and electro.

Franco-Malian R&B star Aya Nakamura is understood to be one of the headliners, despite criticism from far-right politicians, including Marine Le Pen who claimed her appearance would “humiliate” France.

There have also been rumours than French-Canadian singer Celine Dion could be a surprise performer, which would be a massive return to the wold stage after the star cancelled all live appearances in recent years amid her ongoing battle with a debilitating muscle disorder.

But the Opening Ceremony could yet be thrown into chaos, with a French performing artists union last week announcing plans to hold a strike at the same time, protesting “outrageous disparities in treatment” between the performers enlisted for the ceremony.

“We regret to have to announce filing a strike notice for the show on July 26 as well as for the upcoming rehearsals for the opening ceremony for the Paralympic Games” on August 28, the union said in a statement.
