Noughties frontman hits beach in Sydney looking very different

British rocker Pete Doherty, who famously dated Kate Moss in the 2000s, has been spotted hitting up the beach amid his Aussie tour.

Notorious British rocker Pete Doherty has been spotted soaking up the sunshine in Sydney.

The Libertines frontman, 46, was photographed enjoying a swim in Bondi at the weekend, going shirtless as he spent a day at the beach with wife Katia de Vidas.

Doherty, a tabloid-magnet in the 2000s thanks to his turbulent relationship with model Kate Moss between 2005 and 2007, is currently touring with the Libertines, heralding the group’s first Australian shows in seven years and only their second time here.

The rock band, which formed in 1997, kicked off their east coast shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre at the weekend, before hitting Melbourne’s The Forum on Tuesday, and are next set to play at The Forum in Melbourne Thursday night.

They’ll wrap their concert in Brisbane at the Fortitude Music Hall Thursday night.

Doherty, a recovering drug addict who revealed last year he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, earlier warned his toes could be amputated if he didn’t overhaul his lifestyle.

People suffering from diabetes are at risk of foot-related complications.

“I saw the doctor today and he said you need to stay off your feet as much as you can otherwise you’ll lose your toes,” he told fans onstage during a show in Germany in February.

During an interview with Louis Theroux in November 2023, a candid Doherty confessed, “I’ve battered it, haven’t I? I’ve f***ing caned it.”

He continued, “[The] heroin and the crack … I surrendered to that, and then it was cocaine and the smoking and the alcohol, and now it’s cheese and the saucisson, and the sugar in the tea.”

Doherty has been married to his wife, filmmaker Katia de Vidas, since 2021. He announced their engagement on September 28 that year, before the pair married two days later.

The couple live a largely quiet life in the French seaside town of Étretat.
