FANS at Drake’s first Melbourne show were kept waiting outside Rod Laver Arena last night after possible water damage caused delays entering the venue.
Entrances were reduced to just two for the 15,000-strong capacity crowd, with thousands of frustrated fans stuck in long queues outside.
Some waited for up to 45 minutes to enter the venue where Drake performed a knockout show — complete with hits including Hotline Bling and Too Good and stunning Yeezy-style light installations — spanning nearly two hours.
A security source told News Corp Australia some seats had been waterlogged after heavy rainfall in Melbourne yesterday, prompting the hold up as they “had to be dried”.
Inside the venue, and with five minutes before the One Dance rapper’s approximate scheduled 9pm start time, there were frantic scenes as fans poured in to make their seats.
The confused crowd outside rushed to find an entrance as late as 8.30pm, when there were still thousands of fans stuck at the venue’s main entrance on Olympic Boulevard.
Good luck to everyone trying to get into the @Drake gig tonight @RodLaverArena. Stay calm and be patient everyone is doing their best to get everyone in on time ð¤

News Corp Australia has contacted Rod Laver Arena for comment.
The Canadian rapper, 31, took the stage about half an hour later than scheduled for the sold-out performance.
One on Twitter compared the rapper to Madonna, who was more than four hours late for her Melbourne concert last year.
Earlier this week in Sydney, Drake called out a crowd member for “touching and feeling on girls” during his performance.
“If you don’t stop touching girls imma (sic) come out there and f**k you up,” Drake said on stage.
Drake is in the country as part of his Boy Meets World tour, and performs two more shows at Rod Laver Arena tonight and tomorrow.
