The insane amount of money One Direction spends in a year

THEY’RE as much a boy group as they are a global brand and maintaining that popular image comes at an insane cost.

THE One Direction boys probably bank another million every time one of them sneezes — but being so marketable to young teens comes at a cost.

The Sun has discovered maintaining the One Direction brand for a year set the boys back a whopping A$39.9 million before they decided to take a break.

Accounts filed for 1D Media for 2015 show just where Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne splashed the cash — and a lot went on styling those high-maintenance hair styles.

Their mammoth On the Road Again world tour ran up a A$17.6 million bill.

But other expenses included $76,218 on personal styling, $1.31 million on travelling and meals and $16,400 on bank charges, of all things.

They also forked out $246,872 on office admin, $1.33 million on legal matters, $425,553 on crew costs and $159,715 on insurance — presumably to mainly cover the seemingly permanently injured Horan.

Directors’ salaries for the band — and ex-member Zayn Malik — accounted for $924,529, although you can be sure they took home much more than that as their company posted $50.3 million profit.

A source said: “If you’re going to be part of a musical juggernaut such as One Direction that makes $103 million before tax then you’re inevitably going to incur a few expenses along the way.

“But it’s fascinating to see just how and where the money was being distributed.

“The next accounts will be for the first year the band didn’t release any new music, so profits will inevitably be down. But so will hairstyling costs.”

Having resigned as directors of 1D Media in April 2016, the boys made $23 million each from selling just 10 shares in the firm.

So their fortunes are hardly going anywhere and no doubt their solo careers will keep things ticking over and their accountants happy.
