“Brisbane, that was wild” were all the words Lenny Kravitz could muster when he took to social media following the show overnight.

In Australia for his Blue Electric Light tour, the iconic rocker was left shocked after a crazed fan took things a little too far and managed to get up close to him during the gig.

“So when I went out for Let Love Rule... a very excited young lady pulled four dreadlocks out of the back of my head,” he shared in a story on Instagram.

“You know how hard you’ve got to pull to rip those out of my head? Damn baby! Anyway I’m not going to stop coming out there for Let Love Rule because that’s our moment together. Brisbane you’re wild. I love you.”

During his shows, 61-year-old Kravitz, takes to the crowd while singing Let Love Rule and the irony of someone getting physical with the star isn’t lost given the lyrics of the first verse of the song is “love, is gentle as a rose.”

Speaking to news.com.au, Brisbane fan Rebel who did not want her surname revealed and attended the same show, managed to get very close to the star, shared how excited the crowd became when Kravitz joined his fans.

“He came down into the crowd and this was at the very end of that foray, he was coming back past the dancefloor on his way to the stage,” she said.

In her footage, you can see Kravitz touch the back of his head, though it’s unclear when the exact moment happened.

“You can see how close he was and it did not occur to me to reach out and violate his space because I am not 12 years old.”

Fans also took to Instagram to share in the horror.

“Ripping dreadlocks out of anyone’s head: completely diabolical,” someone commented on a recent post on Kravitz’ Instagram grid.

“I can feel the pain right through me; both physically and emotionally. A big, energetic, and protective hug. I’d say forgive the woman, because people in their worst hour usually don’t know what they’re doing,” another offered.

Overall, Rebel described the vibe at the Brisbane concert as “sensible” and “fun,” which makes the shocking incident all the more surprising.

“It was a civil and friendly crowd — even outside and at the bars and on the trains. I’m surprised and embarrassed that happened to him.”

The Fly Away chart-topper has been sharing fond moments while on Aussie shores on social media, including cosying up with a wombat backstage at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and a morning relaxing with a coffee and a view of the iconic Sydney Opera House.

“Coming to New Zealand for the first time and returning to Australia after so many years is giving my soul the most beautiful energy. You all are amazing. Thank you for sharing this with me,” he wrote.
