Madonna fans snap up the ‘cheap’ seats during Telstra presale today, but will she add more Oz shows?

MADONNA fans are either delighted or devastated after a rush on tickets during a pre-sale for her March concerts. But will the material girl add more dates to her tour?

CASHED up Madonna fans have snapped up the best tickets in today’s Telstra presale for her Australian tour in March.

Within minutes of going on sale at 11am, Madge fans were disappointed to see the cheaper tickets all gone, with only single tickets in the bronze, platinum and gold sections left for shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Fans who wanted to buy two tickets had to pay $519 for platinum seats or floor tickets or buy what VIP packages were left.

Madonna ... fans have waited more than 20 years since her last Australian tour.

Telstra also charged a $10 “early access fee” per ticket for their customers who used the presale, which is part of their ‘Telstra Thanks’ program.

The system has improved from the Bon Jovi presale which angered fans when it crashed in 2013.

Social media today was a mix of angry and delighted Madonna fans after the Telstra presale.

One fan asked promoter Live Nation on Facebook in regard to the cheapest bronze tickets “Would you be able to actually see her? My eyes ain’t what they were when she first came out lol.”

There are four different pre-sales for Madonna’s 2016 tour. The pre-sales are run by the tour’s corporate sponsors to reward customers. At each pre-sale a limited allocation of seats across all price ranges will be available, before the remaining tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday.

The actual breakdown of how many tickets are sold in each pre-sale is not available.

Members of Madonna’s Icon fan club had first dibs last week, then a Citibank presale for card holders. The Telstra presale runs until 5pm Thursday, then promoter Live Nation has a presale for their members starting on Friday at 5pm.

General public tickets go on sale 10am Monday July 6, with no word yet as to whether Madonna will add more Australian shows to cater to demand.

There is room in the schedule — Madonna is in Australia between March 12 and March 27 but is so far only playing six shows over three consecutive weekends.

She will play her first ever shows in New Zealand on March 5 and 6 before the staging travels to Melbourne for the first Australian show on March 12 at Rod Laver Arena.

Madonna does not play concerts on Fridays for religious reasons.

However judging by the overseas dates the Rebel Heart tour seems to be designed to play select shows in indoor venues. Madonna is only playing two shows in London and New York and so far the most shows at one venue is in Turin, Italy, which gets three shows at the 12,300 seat Pala Alpitour arena. However these are in territories where the singer has toured regularly, unlike Australia.

Madonna fans are now waiting for the first show, in Canada on September 9, to find out what the set list will be.

Madonna’s last five tours (which all bypassed Australia) generally feature most of her latest album rather than relying on greatest hits.

However fans are excited that Madonna has been quoting previous hits on Instagram, hoping they’re a teaser for the tour setlist. So far Madonna has mentioned ’80s hits Dress You Up, True Blue, Into the Groove, La Isla Bonita and Who’s That Girl? as well as 1990’s Justify My Love, 1992’s Deeper and Deeper and her cover of Love Don’t Live Here Anymore, originally on the Like a Virgin album.
