PULITZER Prize winner Kendrick Lamar has added an Australian arena tour to his headlining spot at the sold-out Splendour In The Grass festival in July.
The hip hop superstar, whose fourth album DAMN. peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA charts a year ago, will kick off his tour in Perth on July 10 and perform concerts in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
Lamar is celebrated as one of the most influential voices in contemporary music and was the first pop artist to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music which has been dominated by classical and jazz musicians.
DAMN. won Best Rap Album at The Grammys in January and Best Rap/Sung Performance for the single Loyalty with Rihanna.
The album’s biggest single Humble became an anthem around the world last year.
He also curated the Black Panther soundtrack which topped the American charts and featured the smash hit All The Stars with SZA.
The DAMN. hit maker thrilled the recent Coachella festival crowd by joining SZA to perform the song.
A prolific collaborator, Lamar is also riding high in the pop charts, featuring on The Weekend single Pray For Me.
Lamar last toured Australia in 2016 for Bluesfest.
His Australian tour begins at Perth Arena on July 10 and then heads to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on July 13, Adelaide Entertainment Centre on July 15 and Sydney Qudos Bank Arena on July 24.
To cater for the huge demand for tickets, the concerts will go on sale at staggered times on Monday.
The Sydney concert is on sale at noon, Melbourne at 1pm, Perth at 2pm and Adelaide at 3pm.
