Jason Derulo reveals the one thing he must have in his dressing room
KANYE demands Versace towels on his tours and Madonna requests a brand new toilet seat in every dressing room. So what does Jason Derulo ask for?
Music Tours
Don't miss out on the headlines from Music Tours. Followed categories will be added to My News.
WHAT does Jason Derulo have on his backstage rider?
That’s just one of the questions news.com.au readers asked us to put to the Trumpets singer who is heading down under this month.
Derulo is set to perform a free 60-minute concert at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse after the last race at the inaugural The Everest on October 14.
In a chat to promote his upcoming appearance, the 28-year-old was more than happy to answer some questions sent in to us by his fans:
What is it you love about Australia?
I love the whole vibe. People in Australia are very carefree. I get along with Australians and it’s a beautiful country, with some of the most beautiful beaches and some of the most beautiful people.
Do you ever get sick of performing your hit songs?
Nah, because I’m constantly doing new songs so my shows are always fresh.
What’s on your rider? (a list of requirements for his dressing room)
One thing that I’ve found is whatever’s in my dressing room, I’m gonna eat it. I try to keep it really healthy so I have tonnes of veggies, fruits and protein drinks. One thing I always have is a basketball goal in my dressing room so if you come in, be careful, because you might get dunked on.
What was it like hearing one of your songs on the radio for the first time?
It was one of those moments I’ll never forget. I got chills up and down my spine and I immediately called my mum because I wanted to share that moment with her.
Which celebrity did you get starstruck in front of?
I’m not really that kinda dude, I’m not gonna lie to you.
You used to sing your name in your songs. Do many people ask you to sing their names for their voicemail recordings?
No, nor would I do it.
What’s your weirdest fan encounter?
Just recently I was headlining a festival. There was a large gate that was separating the audience and backstage. The gate had to be about 30 feet (9 metres) high. This young fan climbed the entire fence to get backstage and come and visit me and I had to let her come and meet me because I thought that was an amazing feat!
