Drake has just casually dropped some major Aussie news during a livestream on local streaming platform Kick.

While chatting with Canadian online streamer XQC, the rapper announced on the platform that he was heading back Down Under for a tour in 2025, almost a decade since he last visited our shores.

“February 9th for anybody that’s watching from Australia, I’m coming back to Australia for the first time in eight years. Coming back to Australia on tour,” he said in a clip shared by Complex magazine.

“Funny enough, it’s actually called the Anita Max Wynn Tour,” he told XQC, who was in disbelief.

For those wondering, Anita Max Wynn is Drake’s alter ego he introduced last December on Instagram. The cartoon character rocks a bob haircut and bangs, round glasses, and a pink and yellow outfit and is reportedly designed by @createdbyseol on Instagram.

But Drake has since used the caricature as his gambling mascot, given Anita Max Wynn loosely translates to “I need a max win”, which is a popular gambling term.

It remains to be seen if the tour will in fact be called the Anita Max Wynn Tour, but the 38-year-old Grammy winner did confirm that the tour will run from February 9 to March, and he has so far listed Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast as tour stops.

When asked by XQC – whose real name Félix Lengyel – why Australia was on his radar, Drake said: “I love it there. It’s just fun.”

Speculation of an Aussie tour began earlier this month when the Hotline Bling rapper shared an old photo of himself looking over the Sydney Opera House.

“It’s been like 7 years,” he captioned the photo along with cheeky sideways emojis.

Drake last performed in Australia in 2017 for his Boy Meets World Tour that wowed sold-out crowds across the country with its light installations, fireworks and smoke clouds.

Since then, the rapper has dropped four more albums – Scorpion (2018), Certified Lover Boy (2021), Honestly, Nevermind (2022), and last year’s For All The Dogs.

Plus in 2022, he also released a collaborative album with 21 Savage, titled Her Loss.
