As concertgoers gather their sparkly outfits and cowboy boots for Taylor Swift’s Era Tour, Bunnings has shared arguably the most Australian concert outfit idea ever.

The hardware store received a mixed response online after posting a video explaining how Swifties can turn their iconic $7 straw wide brim hat into a “bejewelled” concert accessory for the pop star’s Melbourne and Sydney shows.

The video, which has amassed over 3,000 likes, explains how to fashion the sparkly hat using a selection of colourful glass tiles, mirrors, lights and spray paint.

“It’s concert weekend, are you ready for it?” Bunnings captioned the video.

“It’s not too late to make the whole place shimmer with a D.I.Y. decorated hat.”

Many were quick to shut down the idea, with one fan even going so far to label it “offensive”.

“It’s giving “yeehaw bejewelled” one person wrote, referencing Swift’s hit song ‘Bejewelled’.

“I love you Bunno’s, but NO” said another.

“As a swiftie, this is offensive,” another commented.

“That’s the WORST DIY ever,” wrote another.

However others saw the humour in the creative design.

“This is legit the best. Now I want a bejewelled Bunnings hat!!” one person wrote.

“Just missing a sausage on the top for when us swifties get hungry,” another joked.

It wouldn’t be the first time Bunnings’ iconic wide brim hat made an appearance at a concert.

Last February, Harry Styles donated the $7 accessory while performing at Melbourne’s Marvel stadium after a fan threw the hat on stage.

Bunnings later listed the hat under ‘Harry Styles’ on their website.

On Friday, Swift sang to almost 100,000 fans who gathered at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to watch the global megastar in her biggest concert to date.

Thousands more are expected to descend on the MCG and Sydney’s Accor Stadium in sparkly outfits – some months in the making – across Swift’s seven Australian shows.

After Australia, Swift will travel to Singapore, before playing a string of about four dozen shows across Europe.
