Britney Spears’ hilarious lip-sync fail

BY now, it’s no secret that Britney Spears mimes 100 per cent of her live shows — but the sight of her losing a mic as the song plays on is still very funny.

Britney Spears almost loses her top during wardrobe malfunction

IN 2017, that Britney Spears does not sing live is not, in itself, news.

The star has been playing her acclaimed Piece Of Me residency in Las Vegas for four years now, all without singing a single note.

However, it is still funny when the pop star and professional mime actress is prevented from at least pretending to sing — as happened during a concert in Japan over the weekend.

During the first of her two Tokyo gigs, Spears was performing her 2001 hit I’m A Slave 4 U with a mask covering her face — and a wireless microphone attached to her head.

Mid-song, she ripped off the mask — taking the microphone with it. Spears stopped miming along to the song and appeared panicked as both mask and mic got tangled in the back of her hair.

It would be 35 long seconds of Spears crouching and clawing at the back of her head before she’d moved her microphone back into place and could resume her performance.

Throughout, the song played out, her vocals unaffected — indeed, she sounded exactly the same as she did back when the song was released in 2001.

As clips of the gaffe spread, Spears fanbase — who by now know perfectly well their favourite pop star does not sing live — couldn’t resist a few good natured jokes at her expense.
