Behind the scenes secrets from massive concerts

FROM secret entrances to onstage stunts that were expertly faked, these are the biggest concert secrets from the world’s best musicians.

Adele wows fans in Melbourne

WHEN it comes to the world’s biggest artists, no concert idea is ever too small.

Whether it’s completely incognito entrances or tricks to make their performance seem 100 times cooler, plenty of artists like to keep their sneaky tactics a secret from fans.

There’s no denying however that it’s these little tricks that make a singer’s concert a night to remember.

Here are some of their best kept secrets:

ADELE IS WHEELED ON STAGE IN A TINY BOX

She’s currently touring Australia playing for almost 100,000 people a night but there’s one secret from Adele’s tour that kept fans guessing early on.

The singer’s insane popularity means she needs to play stadiums, which also means there’s no underground access.

Considering her stage sits in the middle of the stadium, it’s been revealed Adele is actually sneakily wheeled to the stage in a small box.

While almost everyone lost their minds over this fact, there’s been a few keen eyed fans who figured it out a long time ago.

BEYONCÉ WEARS FOUR PAIRS OF TIGHTS ON STAGE

Ever wondered why Beyoncé looks like she’s about to blown off the stage by her fans?

Well, so did Whoopi Goldberg who asked the singer why she performs with so many.

“I watch you and your hair is always blowing,” Goldberg asked her on The View back in 2010.

“Is that for you to keep cool on the stage?”

“Yes, it started out only for those purposes but yes, you can only imagine,” Beyoncé said.

“I have on four pairs of stockings on top of all of those clothes so it’s really warm with all those lights and you have to keep it supported,” she said laughing.

And, while we’re on the topic of stockings, it was also revealed Beyoncé’s team were forced to dye her back-up dancers stockings due to the troupe’s varying skin colours.

“We’ve been dyeing fishnets in our crockpot because the girls don’t all come in one colour so we’re trying to get the different shades to match the dancers’ skin tone.”

LADY GAGA’S SUPERBOWL JUMP WAS FAKE

Gaga’s halftime show at this year’s Superbowl was lauded as one of the best of all time but her initial stunt, which gave the performance its incredible start, was actually staged.

The singer started her performance on top of Houston’s NRG Stadium as thousands of lit up drones formed the American flag behind her.

Then, in a death-defying stunt, the singer hurled herself from the rooftop and started to plummet (with a harness) to the stage 79 metres below.

An audience video obtained by TMZ proved Gaga was actually just hanging in the middle of the stadium waiting for the video to finish playing.

It’s believed bad weather and the difficult logistics of the drop were the reason Gaga didn’t attempt the stunt live.

MICHAEL JACKSON’ SHOE HAD SCREWS FOR HIS SMOOTH CRIMINAL MOVE

It was the iconic 45 degree dance move that resulted in many a face plants from MJ wannabes on dancefloors around the world.

But, there was a reason why the King of Pop never met the same cruel fate as the rest of us.

The secret of his gravity-defying lean was revealed at a concert back in 1996 when the screw that was supposed to bolt Jackson’s shoe to the floor came loose, sending him tumbling.

Reports then revealed the singer actually had patented a special shoe with an extending slot at the bottom of the heel that secured him to the stage.

And, while we’re on the topic of MJ’s feet, the singer’s iconic white sock look wasn’t just a fashion statement.

One of his dancers revealed the reason why he showed off his socks to MTV News .

“He’s Michael, he can do whatever he wants, he can wear whatever he wants. But why? The story was that he wanted everybody in the back of these massive arenas to see his feet.”

TAYLOR SWIFT’S GUEST STARS WEREN’T PLANNED

Before Swift embarked on her record-breaking 1989 tour, the singer had a plan to keep her shows fresh every night — by inviting guest stars.

With different celebrity guests on stage each night, Swift was able to maintain an element of surprise in her concerts.

Speaking to Beats 1 Radio, Swift revealed some of the insane stories behind scoring her onstage guests.

“My friend was at lunch in Nashville and he swears he saw Mick Jagger, and so I had no idea he would be in town. So I texted Mick. I said, ‘Hey are you in Nashville? Do you want to come out and sing?’ and he writes back, ‘Oh, what will I wear?’ That was the day before.”

While some of her surprise acts had a few days to prepare and soundcheck, others were incredibly last minute.

“My friend Chrissy [Teigen] texted me and said, ‘Hey, we are on our way to the Staples Center show,’ and she’s married to John Legend, and I was like, ‘Is John coming with you?’,” she said.

The pair would eventually sing Legend’s hit All Of Me with Swift revealing the band had a little over 30 minutes to learn his song.

PINK’S AUSTRALIAN TOUR WAS AS ELABORATE AS IT LOOKED

When Pink embarked on her Truth About Love tour in 2013, it was always going to be a spectacle but the singer far exceeded expectations.

Nowhere in the world is Pink more popular than she is in Australia which meant the singer came down under with her A-game.

Pink spent a large amount of her concert performing acrobatics.

And, according to The Age, the singer’s A-game called for a ridiculous amount of cargo.

“There’s a chartered 747 jumbo jet and 19 semi-trailers to haul almost 400 tonnes of equipment. A crew of 80 — from roadies and back-up dancers to sound technicians and make-up artists — travel with her wherever she goes,” they wrote.

The tour also broke a number of records.

Pink performed 18 sold out shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, which broke her previous 17-show record for her 2009 Funhouse tour.

And, if you’re worried Pink’s future tours will see her move away from doing acrobatics, there’s no need to stress.

“I like flying around on stage. I have such a good time. People say, ‘Why’s she always in the f**king air?’ Because I’m having more fun than you, f**k you,” she told The Guardian.
