A promising young musician is being remembered as a “larger-than-life woman” after tragically dying in a car crash.

South Australian woman Odetta Maxwell, 25, had only recently moved out of the home to begin university when tragedy struck on Tuesday.

Ms Maxwell was killed after her car rolled onto bushland on the Port Wakefield Highway while driving alone shortly before midday.

According to a statement from South Australia Police, she was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries but passed away on the following day.

Her sister Isobel Vlahiotis, started a fundraiser for her beloved sibling.

“Our dear angel “O” has gained her wings as a result of a catastrophic single-car crash, and is in heaven with her beloved Nanna, Grandpa and other loved ones,” she wrote.

“As you all would know, Odetta lived many lifetimes and experiences in her short 25 years. “Odetta worked hard, loved hard and fought for everything she believed in. She held her loved ones close and was the most outgoing, impressive, intelligent, beautiful and larger-than-life woman.”

Isobel revealed both of her parents had been involved in separate car accidents in the past and had each suffered brain injuries as a result.

“Odetta dedicated much of her time caring for both parents,” she said.

“Her life was challenging juggling caring for her parents and her other commitments, as she was so passionate about all that she did.”

Odetta was also an emerging musician, with Triple J Music editors and directors describing her tracks as ”exciting” and a “sweet and carefree piece of music, but it retains a lot of heart”.

Odetta’s social media feeds revealed she was looking forward to new life adventures, including study, overseas travel, living out of home and of course, music.

“Lady Maxwell: music producer/vocalist/songwriter (2023 upcoming) student of psychology/neuroscience/philosophy. Just wait for it. It’s coming,” her Instagram bio reads.

Her sister’s fundraiser has so far raised over $13,000.

Her death marks the eleventh life lost on South Australian roads this calendar year, compared to four this time last year.
