Dua Lipa dazzles in headlining set at Glastonbury Festival

The pop princess played the hits and even brought a famous Aussie guest on stage as she played the iconic UK music festival.

Pop star Dua Lipa has headlined the first night of this year’s Glastonbury Festival in the UK, delivering a hit-filled 90 minute set.

It marked the second time the singer, 28, had played the iconic festival; but it was a big step up from her last visit in 2017, when she had just a handful of hits to her name.

During her set, Lipa claimed she’d manifested her headlining set on the festival’s Pyramid stage.

“I have written this moment down, I’ve wished for it, I’ve dreamt it,” she said.

“When I wrote it down, I said I really want to headline the Pyramid stage on a Friday night so I can party the next two days at the best place on earth.”

The set saw her blitz through massive singles from her three studio albums to date – among them Levitating, Be The One, Houdini and Physical – as well as chart-topping collaborations like the Calvin Harris track One Kiss and Elton John duet Cold Heart.

And Lipa even brought out a well-known Aussie for a surprise duet: Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker, who she collaborated with on most recent album Radical Optimism and who joined her on stage for a performance of his band’s hit The Less I Know The Better.

Lipa joins British group Coldplay and American R&B singer SZA as the three main headliners at this year’s festival. Coldplay’s appearance at this year’s festival makes them the first act to headline Glastonbury five times.

Country-pop star Shania Twain, pop legend Cyndi Lauper and Nigerian rapper Burna Boy are among the other top-billed performers at this year’s festival, which will feature around 3,000 performances across some 80 stages.
