Alice Cooper, Blondie and Wolfmother confirmed for new Pandemonium rock festival

Some of music’s biggest names are set to hit the stage in a huge new festival that will offer retro rock fans a dream line-up.

It is one of the most bonkers festival line-ups to be revealed for 2024.

Veteran promoter Andrew McManus has been teasing fans since Christmas with big names for his first Pandemonium festival which will play four dates on the east coast in April.

He has now confirmed the big gigs, to be held over two stages, will feature a retro rock fan’s dream line-up headlined by Alice Cooper and Blondie.

Cooper last played here in 2020 and thrilled more than 70,000 fans when he took time out from his tour to join the all-star Fire Fight bushfire benefit concert, while Debbie Harry and her band performed gigs in Australia in 2017.

Those American rock legends will be joined by British heavy metal pioneers Deep Purple and ’90s alt-rock outfit Placebo.

The eclectic bill also features one hit wonders Wheatus (Teenage Dirtbag), English rockers the Psychedelic Furs, who charmed Australian fans with ’80s classics including Pretty in Pink and Love My Way, and Californian punk rockers Dead Kennedys.

Australian bands who have been booked for Pandemonium include the indefatigable Wolfmother, the legendary Cosmic Psychos, who celebrated their 40th anniversary in December, and alt-rock band Gyroscope.

McManus has been pulling together weird rock line-ups since pandemic restrictions lifted, staging Under the Southern Stars in 2022 with Cheap Trick, Bush and Stone Temple Pilots, and then the World Is A Vampire festival last year with Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction, Amyl and the Sniffers, plus wrestling matches.

The festival will kick off at the Caribbean Gardens, Melbourne, on April 20. The tour then heads to The Domain in Sydney on April 25 and Doug Jennings Park, Gold Coast, on April 27.

Unfortunately Blondie will not appear at the final festival date on April 28, at Sandstone Point Hotel, Bribie Island.

A ticket pre-sale launches on January 22 with general tickets available from January 30 and all times, prices and outlets details available via https://www.pandemonium.rocks/

As Pandemonium is held on Anzac Day, Legacy and Wounded Heroes will be on site to collect donations while Top Blokes, who work in support of the prevention of youth suicide, will be at the Gold Coast event.

Money from each ticket sold will be donated to all three organisations.
