Lizzo has stunned fans with her weight transformation while announcing she will be officially taking a year off from making music.

The US rapper made the declaration in an Instagram post on Sunday, months after she was accused of bullying her backup dancers.

“I’m taking a gap year & protecting my peace,” Lizzo, 36, wrote in the video’s caption.

In the video, the singer stands in the rain while showing off her weight loss in a black bathing suit.

Many fans flocked to the comments section of the post to praise the About Damn Time singer about her weight loss journey.

This is the first time Lizzo has shown her recent transformation on full display and fans were not expecting such a drastic change.

Lizzo’s announcement of a gap year comes after the superstar said that she was going to quit making music.

In March, the Truth Hurts singer announced on Instagram that she was tired of being in the public spotlight.

She wrote: “I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet.

“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it ... But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout and views,” the Grammy winner added.

“Being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look...

“My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name.”

Lizzo ended the message with: “I didn’t sign up for this s**t. I QUIT!”

Lizzo founder herself at the centre of a massive scandal this year when three dancers accused the singer of sexual harassment and abuse.

Crystal Williams, Noelle Rodriguez and Arianna Davis filed a lawsuit against the Be Good singer claiming that she created a “hostile work environment.”

In the lawsuit, one of the performers claims that after a show in Amsterdam, Lizzo and the crew ventured into the city’s Red Light District.

It was there that the group allegedly attended a sexually themed show and Lizzo began asking crew members to take turns touching the nude performers.

The lawsuit claims that Lizzo began a chant pressuring Ms Davis to touch one of the performer’s breasts.

According to the complaint, Davis gave in to the demand in order to get the group to stop chanting.

Davis also alleges that Lizzo had called her out for gaining weight and further accused her of not being committed to her role.

In May, Davis was reportedly fired from the tour after recording a meeting with Lizzo, who was critiquing each of the dancers and their performance.

Lizzo has since denied the allegations.
