Delta Goodrem is set to live out her You’re the Voice fantasy, complete with bagpipes.

The chart-topper will put her spin on the John Farnham classic for tonight’s Music From the Home Front concert.

“Even though it’s my own version of the song it had to have bagpipes,” Goodrem told News Corp.

“They’re just iconic. And You’re The Voice is one of my favourite songs of all time. I’ve played John Farnham songs pretty much my entire life, so it’s a total honour to sing this.”

Goodrem will open the show, which features performances from Jimmy Barnes, Crowded House, Amy Shark, The Rubens, Vance Joy, Mia Wray, Lime Cordiale, Tina Arena, The Kid LAROI, You Am I, Kate Ceberano and Ben Lee with Gordi with the Royal Melbourne Scrub Choir.

Last minute tickets are still available for the event at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl tonight, it can also be viewed live on YouTube from 7.30pm tonight.

The show will feature a tribute to the late Michael Gudinski – the event was his idea last year as the pandemic started shutting the country down, later spawning a No. 1 album.

“It was such a hugely important show last year for the whole music industry,” Goodrem said. “Michael knew it’s crucial to have a platform like that and he pushed for music on television. “Michael was the heartbeat of Australian music and his presence is still felt. I know everyone in his team shares that passion and that energy, they’re continuing his vision and keeping his legacy alive.”

Goodrem’s performance takes place in the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden in Melbourne’s Botanical Gardens – a long way from her cover of Men at Work’s Down Under on last year’s Home Front, filmed on her iPhone from her loungeroom.

“We were all learning on the spot this time last year,” Goodrem said.

“This year we get to add some bells and whistles – and bagpipes. We’re so lucky we’ve got this point. Hopefully by the time my tour starts in September and October we’ll be able to be back on our feet singing and dancing again.”

Goodrem’s new album Bridge Over Troubled Dreams is released on May 14.
