STEVE Carell has a bad history with Australian wildlife.
He once told News Corp Australiathat one should feed a koala “a Snickers bar” and that he’d only survive “about 14 minutes” in the Outback.
Things go from bad to worse for the Hollywood funnyman when he attempts to chase down an incredibly muscular kangaroo in a petting zoo in the first trailer for Disney’s new family movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
It’s not the only run-in with an Aussie Carell had on the set of the movie — the kid playing the “Alexander” of the title is 12-year-old Ed Oxenbould, making his feature film debut.
From an acting family, Oxenbould got off to a good start last year when he was nominated for AACTA’s Best Young Actor award for his role in short film Julian.
Since wrapping Alexander in the US, Oxenbould, who turns 13 next month, has signed a deal with high-powered LA talent agency ICM Partners. He’ll be seen early next year in local director Robert Connolly’s kids’ adventure Paper Planes.
Based on a popular kids’ book about a boy and his family having an extreme run of bad luck, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day co-stars Jennifer Garner and opens in Australia in November.
