A VIOLENT scuffle broke out at the Maleficent premiere in Hollywood after a serial red carpet crasher jumped the barrier and attacked Brad Pitt.

A red carpet crasher rushed at Brad Pitt at the Maleficent premiere in Hollywood.

A MAN was led away in handcuffs after attacking Brad Pitt on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of Maleficent on Wednesday night.

Witnesses saw the man jump from the fan area over a barrier to the red carpet at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and rush at Pitt.

Six to seven security guards wrestled the crazed fan across the barrier and threw him to the ground. Police then cuffed the attacker, whose trousers nearly fell down in the scuffle.

Pitt was apparently rattled but unhurt and soon resumed signing autographs before walking into the theatre.

The man, Ukrainian reporter Vitalii Sediuk, is a known red carpet prankster. Sediuk's most recent prank was just two weeks ago when he tried to put his head up America Ferrera’s skirt at the Cannes premiere of How To Train Your Dragon 2.

At the Santa Barbara Film Festival in February, Leonardo DiCaprio fell victim to one of Sediuk’s practical jokes when the reporter awkwardly grabbed the Great Gatsby star around the waist on the red carpet.

In 2012, Will Smith slapped the serial red carpet pest across the face after he tried to kiss him on the lips at the Men In Black 3 premiere.

Phone and email messages for representatives for Pitt and Disney were not immediately returned.

Vitalli Sediuk will reportedly be charged for misdemeanour battery following the incident.

The man was quickly taken down by security and apprehended by police.
