This actress couldn’t hide her panic when a reporter revealed he’d shared some personal information with her leading man co-star.
Actress McKenna Grace couldn’t hide the panic on her face when a reporter at the premiere of her latest film revealed that he’d divulged some embarrassing information about her to her co-star.
Grace, 19, stars in the new comedy-horror sequel Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, alongside actor Josh Hutcherson. But the prolific former child actor has a digital footprint that’s come back to haunt her: Back when she was a child, she was also a massive fan of the Hunger Games movie franchise – and would post fan edits on social media about Hutcherson’s character in the films, Peeta.
Grace had admitted this in a previous interview, but had been keeping it quiet around Hutcherson himself – so she appeared mortified when Entertainment Tonight reporter Denny Directo informed her he’d just asked Hutcherson about it on the red carpet.
“I owe you an apology, I just blew up your spot: I told Josh that you were Team Peeta back in the day and you used to make those fan edits. He didn’t know!” he told her.
Grace’s eyes grew wide as she appeared mortified that her past as a vocal fan of her latest co-star had been revealed.
“WHY WOULD YOU TELL HIM?” she screamed, momentarily dropping to her knees.
“It’s so diabolical. The thing is, I would never said this actively in the press if I’d known I was going to end up working with him. Who isn’t Team Peeta, but...”
Hutcherson took the information in his stride. “I did not know that... you’re the one to break it to me,” he shrugged, apparently unfazed that his younger co-star was hiding a secret fandom for his best-known character.
And after starring with “Peeta” in a film together, Grace‘s next career move will see her live out another Hunger Games fan fantasy: She’ll star in the next film in the franchise, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, released next year.
She said she had been blown away by the positive reaction to the release of the first trailer for the film.
“It’s a very surreal year in my life, to be a part of these franchises that I was such a big fan of growing up. It’s been a very strange year, and I’m very grateful.”
The first glimpse at The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which will released on November 20 next year, drew headlines for giving fans the first look at eight-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close, who looks totally unrecognisable for her role in the film.
