MONA Foma is offering a private plane trip to Tasmania valued at $99,000 for a lucky competition winner and 149 of their friends.
In what organisers are dubbing the “biggest prize in Tasmanian festival history”, Mona Foma together with Tourism Tasmania are giving away a Boeing 737 return flight to Launceston for this summer’s Mona Foma festival.
MORE NEWS:
To win the trip, the competition winner must find a hidden “Air Mofo” plane located somewhere on Mona Foma’s online map of Tasmania, which launches today.
Mona Foma curator Brian Ritchie said it is located in Tasmania “but not somewhere that starts with A, B or Z”.
The purple and yellow Air Mofo plane will fly from Melbourne or Sydney and land in Launceston on January 17, to kick off Mona Foma’s main weekend.
All passengers receive a festival pass with their return flight home.
Tourism Tasmania chief executive John Fitzgerald said he hoped the competition would hook interstaters.
“I’m pretty sure this has never been done before,” he said. “There’s probably a good reason for that. Nonetheless, hopefully this promo gets mainlanders exploring every square satellite metre of our amazing island. Who knows where the plane is hidden? I don’t — they won’t tell me.”
Mona Foma is from January 11-19. The Air Mofo plane can be found from October 10-14 but clues are available now. The first to find it wins. The winner will be announced on October 15.
