Meghan Markle has been accused of ripping off her Vogue September Issue cover from a 2016 book she appeared in.
The Duchess of Sussex, 37, penned an essay for The Game Changers: How To Become a Fearless, Fabulous Girl Boss by Samantha Brett and Steph Adams before she guest-edited the September issue of British Vogue.
Similar to her Vogue cover, the 2016 essay collection featured 15 famous faces photographed in black and white in a grid formation:
Out of fear she would appear “boastful” by appearing on the cover herself, Meghan chose to put 15 women who “break barriers” on the front of her Vogue issue.
Stunned by the almost identical covers, eagle-eyed fans were quick to alert the authors of the best-selling coffee table book of the similarities.
Brett told the Daily Mail: “It’s obviously very flattering. She obviously likes our concept.
“I love Meghan and am a huge fan, but if what people are alerting us to is true then it’s extremely disappointing.”
But the similarities don’t just end with the design choices — both the book and Meghan’s magazine are centred around “trailblazing” women.
Ahead of its release in 2016, The Game Changers was said to be about “fearless, trailblazing” women who are pushing for change.
According to royal officials, Meghan’s Vogue issue features “trailblazing change-makers united by their fearlessness in breaking barriers”.
When the cover was unveiled last night, Vogue also claimed it was Meghan’s idea to have the 16th image in the grid function as a mirror to encourage readers to be their own force for change.
What’s more, the Duchess of Sussex has also come under fire for not including “the original feminist” The Queen on her list of “trailblazing” women.
