Margot Robbie’s husband starred in Harry Potter

Margot Robbie is a renowned Harry Potter fan, but she’s shared a little-known fact about her personal links to the franchise.

Margot Robbie has often talked about her childhood obsession with the Harry Potter franchise.

And as it turns out, the Australian actress, 31, would go onto marry an extra from the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Robbie’s husband of five years, British film producer Tom Ackerley, first started out in showbiz as a background actor on the 2004 movie, co-starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

But he wasn’t just any ordinary extra. Ackerley was the poor soul who got shoved by Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) in a scene where the Hogwarts students are being introduced to Buckbeak, the school hippogriff.

The I, Tonya star revealed the little known fact on The Graham Norton Show last year.

“My husband is in the Harry Potter movies,” she told a surprised Norton.

“I know, I was like, ‘Had you told me sooner we would’ve been married very quickly.’

“But he was an extra, when he was a little kid he was one of the Slytherin extras when Draco pushes some kids out of the way to see Buckbeak in the third book.

“He pushes my husband out of the way.”

Robbie and Ackerley met in 2013 on set of Suite Francaise, before getting married in Byron Bay in 2016.

The Oscar-nominated actress has previously said she reads the Harry Potter books on a loop as a way of relaxing before bed, while also revealing her friends hired a Harry Potter stripper for her hens night.

“[My friends] are a rowdy bunch,” she told ES magazine in 2018. “They hired a Harry Potter-themed stripper for me.

“He had all the Harry Potter phrases and innuendos. I was so touched, it was really such a thoughtful thing to do. They know me so well.”

No doubt Robbie will be thrilled with news of the Harry Potter cast reuniting for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which streams express on Binge on January 1.

Radcliffe, Watson and Grint will be joined by filmmaker Chris Columbus and a host of other cast members as they venture back to the Hogwarts set at Warner Bros. Studios London, two decades after the premiere of the debut film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and a decade after it wrapped with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
