‘It’s personal’: Survivor star fumes after daughter voted out

One Australian Survivor contestant couldn’t hide his anger when he discovered his daughter had been voted off the show.

Australian Survivor contestant David was the second person this season to discover their loved one had been voted out by the opposing tribe – and he vowed to get revenge for his daughter Briana.

The 51-year-old project manager couldn’t hide his devastation in Wednesday’s episode when the new-look Blue tribe entered for the next challenge – without Briana, who they’d voted out at the last tribal council.

Fighting back tears, he told host Jonathan LaPaglia he was “super-surprised”.

“It’s personal, mate,” he said.

“You know what I call it? This is the transfer of a dream. Briana had a dream, and she just transferred it [to me],” he said.

“I know exactly how he feels. That kind of love is so different to other kinds of love,” said two-time Survivor US winner Sandra Diaz, who entered the game with her daughter Nina and made no secret of her intention to go after anyone who might vote Nina out.

Later on in the show, and sensing he was in trouble, David played a hidden immunity idol at tribal council – and just as well, because the majority of votes fell to him.

That meant the family curse continued for Andy Meldrum’s sister Kate, who was voted off the show just two tribal councils after him.

Returning player Andy had fancied himself as a Survivor “super villain” and master strategist – but he lasted just one episode this time around, voted out by his tribemates in a brutal blindside.

Kate appeared crestfallen when she discovered her brother had exited the competition so early – but she was soon to follow.

But Kate was all smiles when she learned just three votes had sent her packing from the competition – and the reason may lie in her exit line.

“Bye guys, have fun … I’m off to KFC,” she quipped.

Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water continues 7.30pm Sunday on Ten.
