Iconic vaudeville performer Toni Lamond has died aged 93 after a career spanning television, theatre and international stages.
Iconic vaudeville performer Toni Lamond has died. She was 93.
Lamond, who was the half sister of acclaimed singer Helen Reddy, was a pioneering Australian entertainer who began her career on the Tivoli Circuit in 1951 before going on to appear in the Australian productions of Oliver, Annie Get Your Gun, The Pajama Game and Gyspy.
In the 60s and 70s she made regular appearances on television shows like Number 96 and Graham Kennedy’s In Melbourne Tonight.
She also had an international performing career appearing on BBC Television and radio and in New York in a production of Cabaret.
Her son Tony Sheldon is a well known music theatre performer, notable for creating the role of Bernadette in the stage adaptation of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in Australia and earning a Tony nomination for the role when the show premiered on Broadway.
