THE Brighton Show tomorrow is gearing up for a need for speed with its new shearing competition.
Brighton Agricultural Society secretary Trudy Margetts said the speed-shear competition was a new event and expected it to attract plenty of attention with more than $2800 in prizemoney.
“Every entrant also gets a shearers singlet,” she said.
Entry for the competition is open $55, senior $40, learner $35.
There is a new Kiddies Corner on Ferguson Oval. The Girls Brigade of Tasmania has a craft corner and face painting with Mona Leesa Face Painting.
Some of the competitions and activities include wood cutting, agricultural sections, stud sheep, goats, beef cattle, pigeons, poultry, fleece, pet guinea pigs, dogs and a pet parade.
Horse competitions include miniatures.
Entry is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-16 and concessions and free for under-5s.
