THE appearance of inverted red crosses across the Hobart waterfront is sure to have many locals scratching their heads, but all is set to be revealed this afternoon.

Erected and illuminated late yesterday, the three 20m-high crosses are part of an installation for Dark Mofo 2018.

One is positioned in Hunter St, another next to Mures, while a third is outside the old Marine Board building.

Early-rising reader Katy Morgan captured the striking sculptures at sunrise this morning.

Reacting to a Facebook post earlier today, on Mercury reader Stephen Hargrave asked: “OK, who invited the anti-christ to the [Dark Mofo] party?”

“Can’t wait for the faux indignation hysterical comments on this,” wrote Karen Lucas.

Creators Chrstian Wagstaff and Keith Courtney, from CPS Productions, are expected to enlighten locals about their Cross @ The Docks work at a press event in coming days.

CPS Productions were behind the mind-bending House of Mirrors set up a Dark Park in 2016.
