The stars from the hit Aussie comedy Colin From Accounts walked the yellow carpet last night ahead of the award-winning show’s Season 2 premiere.

Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer led the way at the Factory Theatre in Sydney’s Marrickville with their castmates Helen Thomson, Darren Gilshenan, Tai Hara, Michael Logo, Genevieve Hegney and Emma Harvie in tow.

The highly anticipated Season 2 – which premieres May 30 on BINGE – comes off the back of a successful debut which saw the series win three Logie Awards and an AACTA, along with countless other nominations.

The first season all started with a nipple flash (courtesy of Dyer’s character Ash) followed by a scene involving a turd (again, we have Ash to thank), so it’s anyone’s guess what antics come about in Season 2.

“There are no more nipples, there’s no more turds either,” Dyer told news.com.au at the premiere, with Brammall adding, “It’s not without its filth though, so do tune in.”

The duo – who write and star in the series which they co-created – said there are not as many physical gags this season, but “it’s definitely funnier than the first season” and “has more pathos as well. The highs are high, and the lows are low.”

Harvie, who plays Ash’s best friend Megan on the show, said it’s the authenticity of the script that wins her over time and again.

“This show is real. There’s no bulls**t, really,” she told us. “You go, people do say that and they look stupid or maybe they’re embarrassing or maybe you can’t say that … But they do say it because that’s human [nature].”

Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany kicked off the night with a special screening of the first episode, much to the delight of the crowd.

“Comedies don’t come easy in this country. And we at the Foxtel Group and BINGE are just so proud, we got one of ’em!” he said on stage. “Colin From Accounts is the number one drama ever on Foxtel and BINGE.”

However, there was no doubt the scene-stealer for the evening was Colin himself – the dog who Gordon (Brammall) hit in Season 1 after being distracted by Ash’s nipple flash.

Their characters then adopt the pooch and name him Colin From Accounts, but in real life he is affectionately called Zak. He is one of the animals that feature on the series but does most of the heavy lifting, according to Dyer.

“There’s an animal here now, so get your phones out,” she told the audience during a Q&A hosted by BINGE Executive Director Alison Hurbert-Burns.

“This is Zak, he does 90 per cent. He does most of it … But Zak has never messed up a shot. Ever. Seriously, isn’t that insane?”

“Whereas Harriet will mess up everything,” Brammall playfully added.

Colin From Accounts premieres Thursday, May 30 on BINGE, available on Hubbl, and on Showcase at 8.30pm and available On Demand.
