Merry Met Gala day to all who celebrate.
Fashion’s night of nights has unfolded at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York today, with an exclusive list of stars flaunting their most daring looks in front of the world’s media.
Per tradition, guests must adhere to the event’s theme, with Vogue this year choosing ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’.
The theme was reportedly based off the vision of author Monica L. Miller, who wrote the 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. According to the fashion bible, the exhibit will highlight “the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century through present day.”
Attendees have, more so in recent years, interpreted the theme to create one-of-a-kind, outlandish red carpet looks, making the Met Gala one of the most dazzling celebrity spectacles of the year.
Without further ado, here are the wildest looks from this year’s ball...
Halle Berry may have just topped the list for the most risque outfit of the night, shunning underwear as she slipped into a sheer gown.
The Oscar winner, 58, left little to the imagination in her daring black panelled dress, which she accessorised with a black blazer and matching fascinator.
Meanwhile, New Zealand singer Lorde, who just announced her upcoming album following a years-long hiatus from the public eye, surprised with her attendance.
And she certainly gave fans a show after going underground in recent years, wearing a tiny floating crop top and matching skirt.
And from the back:
Australian darling Nicole Kidman went for her signature timeless aesthetic in a strapless black gown.
Hollywood star of the moment Sydney Sweeney oozed old Hollywood glamour, stepping out in a jaw-dropping black beaded gown.
Her stunning dress was fit with a keyhole neckline, perfectly accentuating her famous figure.
Kim Kardashian played it safe by Kim Kardashian standards, delivering a Cowboy Carter style look.
Nicole Scherzinger turned heads in a plunging white dress.
Zendaya, two-time Emmy winner and beloved fashion icon, wore an exquisitely tailored white suit paired with a statement hat.
Kylie Jenner hit the carpet in a corset-style gown.
Fish gotta swim, Diana Ross gotta Diana Ross.
Breaking news! Rihanna is having a third baby, with the star announcing her pregnancy on the red carpet.
Rapper Andre 3000 carrying this event on his back. Literally, he wore a piano.
Gigi Hadid paid tribute to late movie star Josephine Baker with her custom gold Miu Miu replica. Baker, who died in 1975, was the first Black actress to star in a major motion picture in 1927’s Siren of the Tropics.
Dua Lipa made her Met Gala red carpet debut with British actor fiance, Callum Turner, after the pair got engaged over Christmas.
Pop princess Sabrina Carpenter brought her signature feminine flare in a leotard tuxedo.
Model besties Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber also both adapted the staple suit.
Henry Golding looked suave in a mustard-coloured suit.
The oft-edgy Miley Cyrus went for a cropped leather jacket and sheer skirt in her ab-flaunting two-piece.
Saltburn star Barry Keoghan opted for a regal robe.
A pantless trend swiftly emerged, as Cynthia Erivo teamed her itty bitty shorts with an exaggerated bomber jacket.
What are the odds of wearing the same stockings to the Met?! Lisa and Helen Lasichanh joined the leotard movement in matching hosiery.
Gracing the Met for the first time in seven years, ladies and gentlemen, Madonna.
Demi Moore infused structural elements with her Cruella-esque gown.
Lizzo showed off her recent body transformation in a fabulous fishtail number.
Tennis champ Serena Williams had a Cinderella moment.
And Megan Thee Stallion a Marilyn moment.
Amelia Gray Hamlin wrote her own rules.
Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr was elegant in strapless black and arm-length gloves.
Pop party queen Charli XCX teamed feather with leather.
Jenna Ortega flaunted a futuristic metallic gown.
Someone pour Shaboozey up a double shot of whiskey, them blue pearls deserve their own cheers.
Lana Del Rey emerged from her humble Louisiana home (which made headlines last week) to grace the Met steps in a chocolate brown ball gown.
Shakira was pretty in pink.
Nick Jonas and wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas looked like the ultimate power couple.
And another power couple, Australian filmmaking duo Baz Luhrmann and costume designer wife Catherine Martin.
More leotard fodder! Doja Cat serves, well, cat.
Sofia Richie Grainge opted for bridal white.
FKA Twigs delivered some Charleston razzle dazzle.
Jeremy Allen White, this is the MET. Plain suits should be outlawed.
Look, we just can’t fault Doechii for wearing flats.
Chappell Roan stopped by the Met on her way to a late shift at the Pink Pony Club.
Anne Hathaway elevated the white boyfriend shirt with a figure-hugging skirt.
Actor Colman Domingo needed a helper to carry his cloak.
Actress Joey King looked glam in a green set emblazoned with rhinestones.
Australian actress Sarah Snook brought the drama in a tuxedo gown with a red velvet train.
Pamela Anderson continued opting out of wearing makeup at events, rocking a fresh face with her glitzy grey gown.
Social media personality Emma Chamberlain showed some skin.
The woman herself, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Earlier, it emerged famous nepo baby Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz pulled out of attending at the last minute following the speculation around the pair skipping Brooklyn’s father David Beckham’s recent 50th.
Co-chairs for this year’s gala included actor Colman Domingo, race car driver Lewis Hamilton, rappers A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams and Wintour.
The 2025 theme ruffled feathers after it was unveiled in October last year. While some celebrated the step in showcasing diversity, others were concerned it could open the doors for cultural appropriation.
It’s certainly not the first time a Met theme has raised concerns.
In 2023, organisers made the decision to honour late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld with its ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ theme.
English actress Jameela Jamil was one of the first high-profile names to criticise the move, pointing to controversial, degrading comments the German fashion powerhouse made about women over the years.
“This man … was indeed, supremely talented, but used his platform in such a distinctly hateful way, mostly towards women, so repeatedly and up until the last years of his life, showing no remorse, offering no atonement, no apology, no help to groups he attacked … there was no explanation for his cruel outbursts,” Jameel wrote in a social media post at the time.
