Celebrities flash the flesh at amfAR Gala in Cannes

CELEBRITIES weren’t afraid to show some skin in Cannes, embracing sheer gowns, plunging necklines and thigh splits at the amfAR Gala. WARNING: Nudity.

IT’S one of the biggest events of the Cannes Festival, but it has nothing to do with film.

Celebrities weren’t afraid to make a statement at the amfAR Cannes Gala on Thursday night, held annually in the French seaside town as a fundraiser for AIDS research.

Models took the plunge in barely-there necklines and thigh-split skirts, while some event goers bared all in completely sheer gowns.

Swedish model Fancy Alexandersson left little to the imagination in a sheer beaded halter-neck dress.

Also embracing the sheer trend in a slightly more modest style was Paris Hilton, who hit the red carpet in a semi see-through floral frock.

The American socialite packed on the PDA with her fiance Chris Zylka, who also lent a helping hand in untangling her dress as she made her way down the red carpet.

Model Alessandra Ambrosio looked pretty in pink in a one shoulder gown which featured a revealing thigh split.

The thigh split skirt was one of the biggest trends of the night, with everyone from singers to actors embracing the style.

Actor Ruby Rose took the plunge in a low cut sequined dress, the Pitch Perfect star all smiles as she posed for photos alongside Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima.

Australian model Shanina Shaik also opted to wear a plunging neckline, looking chic in a gold pants suit.

Lingerie model Elsa Hosk channelled old Hollywood glamour in a red gown and full skirt, showing off her lean legs with a thigh split.

Also wearing red was Michelle Rodriguez, the actor looking relatively conservative in a low cut halter gown.

Portuguese model Sara Sampaio showed off more than just her legs as she posed for photos in a very high cut blue dress.

Meanwhile, Czech model Petra Nemcova and Spanish racing driver Carmen Jorda both sported matching thigh splits as they posed together on the red carpet.

US dancer Mette Towley also flaunted her figure in a skimpy dress which featured white embellishments and sequin detailing.

Ukrainian model Alina Baikova sported a quirky bun hairstyle as she embraced the trends of the evening in a revealing red gown.
